Building Authentic Brand Presence
Working with a new business is always exciting, and making sure that the business mission and ethos is apparent, is central to the process of creating effective commercial photography.
River Design are a company born of a desire to be a brand bringing useful content and products to bridge communication gaps for deaf children and families. I was excited to be asked by their founder Beth Murray-Morrish to work on their website and product launch. With so few people knowing any British Sign Language, the River Design logo is a great way of focusing on the role of the hand in communication for deaf people. The logo was key to this brand launch and needed to feature prominently.
Their recent spring apparel launch was a great opportunity to promote River Design and their funky logo, on clothes designed to be both stylish and practical.
These days people are keen to know the back-story to a brand, particularly where it is born from an individual skill, passion or need. This is what adds value and sets brands apart from the everyday offering. River Design originated from the need to help River communicate with his family, so the obvious approach was to incorporate them into the shoot. To make the shoot authentic and natural, we decided on Gorleston beach, the family’s favourite spot.
Candid and natural was the remit given; so dressed and ready, we let the children play! We wanted to show the clothing off being used, practical, and fun, and there was certainly plenty of that!
The result was a series of images that reflect the fun to be enjoyed when all people can communicate.
